​​​​​​On May 8, 2024, the second round of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Tajikistan and Iran took place in Tehran.

The delegations of the parties were headed by Deputy Foreign Ministers of Tajikistan Farrukh Sharifzoda and Iran Ali Bagheri.

During the consultations, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of multifaceted relations between the two friendly countries.

The two sides also exchanged views on recent regional and international developments.

The delegation of Tajikistan was also received by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Amir-Abdollahian.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of strengthening cooperation for the implementation of agreements between the top leadership of the two countries.

Meetings also were held between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mahdi Safari, during which the parties discussed issues of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, as well as the creation of favorable conditions for the implementation of joint economic projects.

At the end of the visit, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs F. Sharifzoda met with the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Khusrav Noziri, during which the parties, expressing satisfaction with the development of cooperation between Tajikistan and the Organization, discussed the holding of joint events within the framework of the Organization’s activities.
